DEDICATION TO ALEXANDER LARIN

DDT's concerts on February 25th and 27th were dedicated to the memory of the general director of "FEELEE MANAGEMENT", Alexander Alexeivich Larin, who passed away on February 23. Sasha very much wanted these concerts to happen, and gave a lot of his energy and strength to make sure that they did in fact occur.

It's difficult to describe how much this person gave to Russian rock. Beginning in 1988, many concerts and albums by both Russian and international acts were brought into being under his guidance.

Alexander Larin also organized many rock music events, including rock festivals and tours throughout Russia. The "Gorbunov" concert hall in Moscow became a well-known center of alternative music thanks to his leadership. He will be greatly missed.

The final performances of "Vanished Without A Trace" in Moscow

2005 has ended. It was a remarkable year for a million rock music fans who observed the 25th anniversary of DDT. The biggest gift of the year was the release of the group’s new album "Vanished Without a Trace". It was no accident that the new songs from the album found their way into DDT’s concert tour, which received such great success in almost every large city in Russia, as well as abroad. Yury Shevchuk created the playlist for the tour with a specific character in mind: "It’s like fire and ice, very divergent: from a scream, lots of noise and loud attacks to quietness and tenderness - in general, like one’s life. There’s jazz, hardcore and soft rock, and some experimental songs – all the styles in which we work. It seems to me that there’s something for a wide public audience to listen to and see in this program."

The group’s lengthy tour stretched across all of Russia – from Vladivostock to Kaliningrad, Ukraine, Belorussia, Moldavia, and Latvia, to Israel, Germany and Great Britain, and DDT was able to demonstrate their high level of musicianship to many people. In addition to this, every one of their dynamic concerts was presented using cutting-edge technology in their sets, sound, and lighting: in fact, it was the first time that such a spectacular event had ever been produced in several Russian cities. The conclusion of the main part of DDT’s anniversary tour in Russia occurred at the beginning of December with a concert at the Olympic Stadium in Moscow in front of approximately twenty-five thousand spectators. Nevertheless, far from all of those wishing to see this great concert, and congratulate their favorite group on their anniversary, were able to do so...

So, what the heck, in order to see their friends and fans, who for so many years have supported and believed in real rock & roll, these Petersburg musicians have created yet another gift! For those who were already able to see it last year, and especially for those who weren’t, the concert "Vanished Without a Trace" will be presented in Moscow once again! DDT invites everyone to take their favorite seat at the Gorbunov Concert Hall on February 25th and 27th, 2006 and to help them complete the observation of the legendary group’s jubilee year.

«Petersburg Autumn»

'Petersburg Autumn'

A concert featuring romances entitled "Petersburg Autumn" was held on October 20, 2005 at the BKZ October Concert Hall. This international festival has been held annually in St. Petersburg since its inception in 1998, and has become a city tradition. The "Petersburg Romance" project brings together creative people from different genres and musical styles who continue to preserve and develop the truly Petersburg tradition of the romance. The finest representatives and composers of this tradition participated in this year's concert, including Yury Shevchuk, Laris Lusta, Elena Vaenga, Serge Rogozhin, and others.

Photographer Alex Fedechko-Matskevich has kindly given the DDT website his photos of Yury Shevchuk (alongside DDT musicians Ivan Vasiliev and Pavel Borisov) from the "Petersburg Autumn" concert. Click here to see them.

DDT 25. The Saga Continues…

Yury ShevchukThis year DDT observes their 25th anniversary. Russian rock photographer Alex Fedechko-Matskevich decided to observe it in his own way. Together with producer and artist Andrei Stolipin, he organized an exhibit entitled "25" as a gift for Yury Shevchuk and the musicians of DDT. The exhibit is comprised of the 25 best photographs of the group, taken between the years 1996 and 2005. Some were taken at DDT's studio, some at solo concerts or festivals, some at Shevchuk's home, and some just wandering through St. Petersburg. Shevchuk himself helped select many of the photographs for the exhibit.
You can see part of the exhibit by clicking here.
